专利说明:
DRYING DEVICE, PRIMARILY INTENDED FOR INSTALLATION IN A VEHICLE CABIN TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates generally to a drying device, preferably intended for use in the cabin of a vehicle. The invention particularly relates to a drying device for personal equipment, like shoes, boots, gloves, clothing etc and that can be located in a heated air stream from a ventilation system or some apparatuses already installed in the cabin, such as a refrigerator and thereby use the warm/heated air stream or flow from this equipment. The invention is especially intended for use in a transportation heavy commercial vehicle such as a truck, and where the refrigerator is installed behind the driver's and/or the passenger seats. BACKGROUND ART Drivers and passengers in automotive vehicles experience often a need to dry cold, frozen or wet apparel. In heavy commercial vehicles, such as trucks, intended for short or long-distance transportations, that operates all day long there is often a need for drying such cold, frozen or wet personal equipment prior to repeated use. Vehicles normally include an air distribution or ventilation system that blows air into the passenger compartment through air outlet vents arranged on e.g. the vehicles dashboard. Conventional designs of air distribution systems allow for adjustment of the direction of the air flowing from the outlet vents, typically by orienting autonomously vertical and horizontal directional slots arranged at the air outlet vents. But such a system is not especially useful for drying apparel, gloves, shoes etc. The need for this occurs e.g. when the driver is working outside the vehicle in rainy weather. As there is not much space in a cab a drying mechanism for gloves, shoes etc has to be as little space consuming as possible and it is an advantage if it is cheap and easy to install. And it is a further advantage if the drying device does not need to be connected to any electrical or fluid system in the vehicle for its heating. And it is another advantage if the drying device could be stored in a folded position in the cabin in a space not used for any other purposes. Prior art designs are often complex, containing a number of components and above this having to be connected to an electrical or fluid system in the vehicle in order to be heated. Several attempts have been made to provide a simple, cheap and user-friendly solution to the problems mentioned. In W02004/071854 is illustrated a ventilation system for a cab and a closet for drying, airing and storage of work clothing. The system has a fan arranged in the closet that extracts air from the vehicle cab and blows it through the closet. Excess heat from the engines coolant circuit is utilized as a heat source. Some disadvantageous with this solution are that the system consumes a lot of space in the cab and that the fan must be connected to the electrical system of the vehicle. US2006/0130997 illustrates another example of a heat distri- bution device for a vehicle. The heat distribution device comprises of ducts to which personal equipment and apparel can be connected for drying. The invention uses air that passes through a HVAC unit in the vehicle, after conditioning. The air is then distributed through the ducts to perform the pre- conditioning for the apparel. Some disadvantageous are that this system needs heated air from a HVAC and the solution is relatively complicated and takes up a lot of space in the vehicle. Still another solution is disclosed in US5823869. This invention comprises a self-retracting and extensible air duct that in combination with an air distribution system may provide heated air to 'remote" locations within the vehicles interior. The heated air can be used for drying boots and clothing. The system is based on that a duct with a nozzle can be connected to the vehicles existing air distribution system extracted from the dashboard and directed to the desired area in the vehicle, like into e.g. the floor level. The system requires some redesign of the vehicle/dashboard and needs heated ventilation air from the vehicle ventilation system. This system cannot easily be added to the vehicle after its production. A number of similar solutions, regarding this type of dryers, exist in the market but none of these prior known systems illustrates a design that requires only a small space, equipped with few components, that does not need to be connected to electricity and is possible to fold into a space saving stowed position. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION One object of the present invention is to solve the above mentioned problems and to provide a simple drying device for 30 vehicles for use in the cabin of a vehicle and for effectively drying personal equipment, like shoes, gloves etc. Another object is that the device should be possible to install in an existing vehicle in an easy manner. One further object is that the drying device should not require connection to any electrical system. A further object of the invention is that the drying device should be easy to access. One further object is that the design should easily be possible to fold to a storage position or to be pulled up to a use position. Another object of the invention is to design a drying device containing few components. A further object of the invention is that the drying device must take minimal space in its storage position. A further object of the invention is that the drying device must be mechanically stable in its use position. These and further objects and advantages is achieved by the invention by a drying device designed in accordance with the features recited in claim 1. The invention thus relates to a drying device, preferably intended for use in the cabin of a commercial heavy vehicle, such as a truck. The drying device is arranged for drying personal equipment, like shoes, boots, gloves, clothing etc., and is preferable located nearby an apparatus already installed in the cabin that generates/emits a heated air stream, such as a refrigerator. The heated air from a refrigerator is normally vented out from the cabin through an air vent located near the refrigerator. By locating the drying device, according to the invention, i.e. near or in this air stream has the advantage to use an existing flow of heated air to dry frozen, cold or wet garments. The drying device is preferably designed as a mesh shelf having a ribbed base plate made of e.g. rubber or plastic. At least on the front side of the shelf a mesh/net is height adjustable by means of a spring loaded frame. The ribs in the base plate are arranged to allow the airstream also to flow underneath the garments placed on the drying device. The invention can be installed in an otherwise free and unused space in the cab nearby the vent of the refrigerator. The 10 airstream is evacuated through the cabins outlet vent. By this location garments placed in the drying device will dry up and the humidified air is sucked out of the cabin through the outlet air vent. This is done automatically as the air pressure inside the cabin is higher than the air pressure outside the cabin. In the operative state the mesh/net side is normally upright. When loaded with garments the mesh/net may be folded in order to give room for more garments. The mesh/net/frame could also be folded and locked in the folded position. Due to the design the drying device takes up very little space, both in its use position and in its storage/stowed position. The main advantages of the device are that the drying device does not need any heating mechanism/coils thereby avoiding the risk of fire, it has a simple design and contains few components which make it cost effective to manufacture and assemble. By using few components and by using lightweight materials, the devices weight will he very low. And the device will be fast and easy to install and handle during use as the frame can easily be lowered by one hand. Further features and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following, more detailed description of the 35 invention and the accompanying drawings and the claims. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The invention is described below in some preferred embodiments illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Figure 1 illustrates a perspective view of a drying device according to the invention, here illustrated in its upward operative state. Figure 2 illustrates a perspective view, obliquely from above, of a part of the interior of the vehicle cab, and more specifically the refrigerator behind the passenger/driver seats and the cabin outlet vent. DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS The present invention relates to a preferably foldable drying device that can be maneuvered between a storage position and a use position and located in a small space near an equipment in the cab that emit a heated air stream, such as a refrigerator. Figure 1 illustrates a perspective view of a drying device 1 according to the invention, here illustrated in its upward operative state. The drying device 1 is arranged for drying personal equipment, like shoes, gloves etc. (not shown), and is located nearby an equipment 2 (see figure 2) already installed in the cabin that generates/emits a heated air stream, here a refrigerator. The drying device 1 is preferably designed with a hinged frame 3 of steel or metal wire having a mesh 4 of e.g. nylon threads or similar connected between a part of the frame 3 and a ribbed base plate 5 made of e.g. rubber or plastic. The mesh/net forms a wall or barrier in order to keep the parts 10 for drying in place. The frame 3 may be movable, partly rotatable/tiltable, and strives upwards by means of a hinge 7 and a spring 6. Ribs 8 may be arranged in/on the base plate 5 in order to allow the airstream to also flow underneath any garment placed on the drying device 1. Figure 2 illustrates a perspective overhead view, of a part of the interior of the vehicle cab, and more specifically the housing for a refrigerator 2 behind the passenger/driver seats as well as other interior parts and the cabin evacuation vent 9. The heated air from the refrigerator 2 is flowing from an outlet vent 10 of the refrigerator 2 and in the direction to the cabin air evacuation vent 9. The drying device 1 is located near the refrigerators 2 outlet vent 10 and will be arranged in at least part of its air stream. This has the advantage that an existing flow of heated air is used to dry frozen, cold or wet garments. The drying device 1 can be installed in a free and otherwise unused space in the cab, as illustrated here, nearby the outlet vent 10 of the refrigerator 2 and near the evacuation vent 9 of the cabin. The drying device 1 may be fixed to the interior of the cab by fastening devices (not shown). By this location garments placed in the drying device 1 will dry up quickly and the humidified air is sucked out of the cabin through the evacuation vent 9. This is done automatically, without any fan, as the air pressure inside the cabin is higher than the air pressure outside the cabin. In the operative state the mesh/net frame 3 is normally upright. When loaded with garments the mesh/net frame 3 may be folded in order to give room for all garments. The frame 3 could also be folded and locked in the folded position if desired. Due to the design the drying device 1 takes up very little space, both in its use position and especially in its storage/stowed position. The above description is primarily intended to facilitate the 5 understanding of the invention. However the invention is of course not in any way restricted to only the disclosed embodiments, but many possibilities to modifications would be apparent to a person skilled in the art within the scope of the invention without departing from the basic idea of the 10 invention as defined in the appended claims.
